Vonage incoming calls result to one way audio

published 99 days ago, submitted by Leroy Leroy 99 days ago

One out of 10 or 15 incoming calls reisult to one way audio (I can not hear the caller, but the caller can hear me. Spent countless hours with vonage support. The support did a lot of things (change to phone 2, change audio gain, set up a debug, etc) which broke the line even further. Now on top of the above problem, the audio is getting garbled on every call (probably because the support hack too much on my line, and can not get it back ) Do not use vonage voip!! stay away!! read more...

Wrost voip service i have ever seen! Unlimited calls don't mean unlimited calls!

published 99 days ago, submitted by Alice Alice 99 days ago

I'm having this confuse with voip.com voip provider. Voip.com was good at start, but i got this email... At voip.com, our goal is to provide the best Internet Phone service in the industry. In order to provide the best possible service to all of our Customers, our residential plans are provided for residential use and for no other use. Based on your current usage, your account has been flagged for further review by our billing department. If you are utilizing this service for business use, please upgrade your service now to avoid any penalties. Our Small Business 1000 plan provides an included 1000 minutes per month (to the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico) as well as our premium features, such as Voicemail, Caller ID with Name, and Anonymous Call Rejection, and many more. The Small Business 1000 plan is $18.95 per month with overage usage billed at only 2.1 cents per minute. To change to this plan, please reply to this email and our Customer Service staff will make the change for you. Thank you for choosing Voip.com. Sincerely, The Customer Support Team at that time i used 2334 mins. My son was calling his girlfriend... but now they are saying i could get a pently for that and my account is flaged. so with that said UNLIMITED CALLING IS NOT UNLIMITED CALLING FOR VOIP.COM! i open a support ticket and here is some of the replys. "In reviewing your case, the amount of minutes you are using during each billing cycle does not fall under the average residential usage. Your minutes used falls under commercial usage. This usually means the account was moved to a restricted plan due to a number of minutes indicating "commercial" usage. Commercial usage is defined as more than 2500 minutes used in a single month, or more than 1800 minutes used in two consecutive months." so this means this is NOT unlimited calling, you only have 2500 minutes per mouth or u can even have more 1800 for two months... so i asked voip.com "I just went on my call logs and the most mins. that was used was on one or two numbers, that was my son calling his girlfriend... so there is no possbile way that i can be using my serivce for commercial usage. If you have any questions about this please let me know. and i would like to know how long it will take for this to be settled. and also, dont i have the freedom to call anyone? I thought this was unlimited calling?, right? please let me know." and the reply i got back was "The Company may make such determination based on the Customer's usage patterns and other criteria determined by the Company to differentiate between residential use and business use...” but as you can see i did not get a real reply for my questions.

WARNING: VOIP.COM IS NOT FOR UNLIMITED CALLING! IF YOU USE MORE THEN 2500 MINUTES, IT IS BETTER OFF TO GO ELSEWHERE. BUT IF YOU LESS THEN THAT (I.E. 1000 OR LESS) VOIP.COM IS YOUR BEST BET.

Vonage Service...

published 102 days ago, submitted by Lawrence Lawrence 102 days ago

When replacement of a cable modem-gateway device was performed by the Internet Provider (Comcast), my home network and VoIP services were badly disrupted. But when I called Vonage for assistance in working around the problem for the phone services, I was cut-off after extensive waits every time I contacted technical support! That alone tells me that their service is not ready for "prime time". And they are the largest out there!? read more...

Voip Your Life for 30 days, I like it

published 102 days ago, submitted by davidjdoerr davidjdoerr 102 days ago

I have had VOIP Your Life for 30 days. I signed up with them because of their reviews. No, I do not work for them like one guy here insinuated about these other reviews, believe that. Anyhow, I am very impressed with this service. This is my first time using any VOIP service. I cannot tell any difference between this and my old POTS line, which was costing me $70 amonth. My Experience: I signed up online, received the adapter 4 days later, pludded it in between my router and modem, plugged it in and had dial tone. Went online a few days later and added some of the free features. I cancelled my "CTSI" phone service and tied the home phone lines together at the NID (after disconnecting them from the nid), then plugged the adapter into a wall jack. I now have 3 ringing phones and 3 non-ringing (I read that you should not add to many ringers, so I have on for each floor)in my house. They all work great, 6 phones, no noise, no echo, no nuthin, just like my old service. Caller ID does not list the name, just the number, saving 40 bucks amonth, I can deal with that! I could not port my old number, but that was my old companies fault. Customer service?, I don't know. I have had it a month and have not needed to call. So take this for what it is worth, Voip Your Life is very good, I'm happy, very Very HAPPY! I would not take the time to write this if I was not overly impressed! read more...

Great sound

published 106 days ago, submitted by Marilyn Marilyn 106 days ago

I did a lot of research before choosing voip your life - I was about to go to the more popular vontage - but the reviews were better for voip your life than most voip companies - and there tech guy speaks ENGLISH - choose this company first and keep your old # for at least a month or two to make sure you are happy with service ( you can usually cut back service to a basic service so you don't pay a lot of money ) voip phone service is new but this company is probably the best out there read more...

Don't sign up vonage contract!

published 106 days ago, submitted by Jack Jack 106 days ago

If you are thinking about signing up for Vonage service. I WOULD NOT DO IT!!! Here is my story as to why. I signed up for Vonage to save money, considering it was half the cost of my local company including long distance. However, I have had nothing but problems with the phone service. The problems ranges form continually dropping calls to the people I was talking to not being able to hear me at all when I could hear them. When I spoke with customer service about these issues each time they tried to blame it on my in house wiring. However, I proved them wrong each time by bypassing my internal home wiring and still had the same issues. They were unable to solve the problem so I started the process to switch back to my local line carrier. At this point Vonage would not release my line even though my new carrier had authorization for it. Not only that they charged me for the next month of service (when my account had already been closed) and they charged me a $40 cancellation fee. After may unsuccessful tries to reach their billing department I finally got a person who told me I had to speak with someone in their “Advanced Billing Department” but of course they where currently not working even though it was 1 o’clock in the afternoon. The service sucks, the customer service sucks, and if you want to cancel your service, good luck getting it done without major problems and fees. read more...

Reliable voip company

published 110 days ago, submitted by Dan Dan 110 days ago

I've been using Voip Your Life for approximately one month and have absolutely no complaints. I've replaced my second bare bones landline with a fully featured VOIP line. I'm dropping a 40 hr per prepaid long distance plan ($95 per month saving)... I've taken advantage of Voip Your Lifes's two free virtual numbers, which work flawlessly. I've contacted VYL by email a few times... both before and after subscribing, and their responses have been immediate... even on Sundays. I would highly recommend VYL... In my mind its a no brainer. Free hardware, no commitment, and no contract... How can you loose with a deal like that read more...

Love my Vonage

published 110 days ago, submitted by Winston Winston 110 days ago

I got vonage after finding out I could get a virtual line for family in Canada to call me. I was a little concerned since I had never used anything but traditional line service previously. The ONLY time I've ever had problems is when my cable went out a couple of times. But with the setup I have, calls went to my cell phone. I would never switch from Vonage, but now I'm moving to South Carolina and the area I'm moving to doesn't have a local number through Vonage. I'm going to have to either use traditional or another Voip for my local number, but I'm still keeping my Vonage hoping they'll get me a local number there soon. I LOVE my Vonage. When I had to order another line and unit for my travelling husband, customer service was delightful and they always help set things up, they walk you right through it. It's going to be hard to use another service after this! read more...

Vonage cheap, yes, but it sucks

published 111 days ago, submitted by Harris Harris 111 days ago

The sound quality is horrendous, extremely staticy, frequently only one way communication is possible. Very rarely it works as expected. Overall, an absolute waste of space. I was sick of paying through the nose for service from a real phone company, but at least with the Ma Bell spin-off I got what I paid for, with vonage I get static and one-way communication. Very sad. read more...

Poor Customer Service of Vonage

published 124 days ago, submitted by Annabelle Annabelle 124 days ago

I have had Vonage for almost 4 LONG months. Great price. Great features....but... customer service is a nightmare! First, every time I have called (about the static/interference)there has been a huge language barrier. I found out on one call that the call was sent first to India, then rerouted back to the U.S. Therefore, anyone you talk to has a very heavy accent. (I was trying to figure out why no one could see our name show up on their caller ID. Come to find out, Vonage doesn't provide names on CID, so we are only known as UNKNOWN + number) The static, what can I say. Usually people just say to call them back later because they can't understand me. I just got off the phone with another customer rep who couldn't help me, and he had a hard time understanding me and had me repeat everything twice. I am presently pulling my hair out and looking for another provider. read more...

I recommend it

I ordered it and got an email that same day with my tracking number. Two days later the adapter came and while I was at work my 10 year old son followed the pictures and set it up. The quality is good. I haven't had any need to call customer service so I rated it average. read more...
