I live in Manhattan and my cable internet connection is earthlink (Time Warner). I started using SunRocket voip service for the last two to three weeks and I find the quality of the voice and the service reliabilty as more than I have ever hoped for. Verizon Telephone service basic plan on paper was $8.95 but it's 9 cents per call to any local phone in the five boroughs of New York City. Regional calls and interstate calls are additional. Including taxes and FCC fees, etc... it goes up to $28.00/month. SunRocket Voip service allows me to call anywhere in the continental US and Canada for free with my $199.00/year contract plus they give me $3.00 worth of FREE international calls per month which is around 17 minutes to the Philippines (0.17 cents/minute). The quality of the voice is much better and clearer than Verizon. I am waiting for SunRocket to transfer my number from Verizon and to end my service with the latter for good! There was a slight service interruption last March 24, 2005 because one of their cables got cut off but SunRocket customer service was quick to send an apology via e-mail on the same day and I thank them for that! SunRocket is "the" Phone Company of the future doing business Now !...Thanks SunRocket, you made my life worth "calling" out!.... read more...

I did number transfer but as soon as I registered it, I tried to stop it since I realized that number was my DSL number with Verizon. To be able to have the number transfered, the number with Verizon must remain active. But once the number transfered, I would lose my DSL with Verizon. It was such a headache trying to stop the number transfer. SunRocket - Verizon kept sending me back and forth. SR told me there was no way to stop since the transfer date had occur and I got the same message from Verizon. The only thing to stop the number transfer was to change my phone number with Verizon. That way my DSL will remain active and it would stop the number transfer since the number going to be canceled has been disconnected. But this is the interesting part. Everytime Verizon asked me the reason why I wanted to change my phone number and I told the truth because that I tried to stop the transfer to SunRocket, they started to get nasty with me. I was with different customer service back and forth between SunRocket and Verizon for 2 hours and each call to one of them 10 calls at least. With Verizon, everytime they heard me that I had SunRocket, man, they gave me such a hard time. They told me that they could not change my phone number because there was a pending number to be transfered. But once the number transfered to SR, I won't have DSL and to be able to get the DSL back I had to pay for the connection fee for DSL and phone number. It is too much! They told me that it would take 2 weeks to get the DSL back etc. - Finally I told the SR customer service about Verizon nasty behavior everytime I told them about SunRocket, the SR customer service told me don't tell them about SR but just said that I wanted a new number. So, I called Verizon back. This time I asked for my phone number to be changed. The customer service did not ask me the reason why I wanted to change my phone number. He happily taking my order to have my number changed. It costed me 34 dollars to have my number changed but I still can keep my DSL with Verizon and SunRocket service (since I got the bargain plan $199 for 2 years so hell yeah, I wanted to keep it). He even asked me if I wanted to unpublish my new number and I said as long as there was no extra charge. He double checked for me and he said no extra charge. And I could have my phone number changed in 2 hours. That will prevent me losing the DSL at least. I don't really care whether the number is transfered or not, all I cared about was not to lose the DSL service because that means I can't use SR phone too and Verizon will charge me connection fee for both DSL and phone. So, never told Verizon that you are having SunRocket unless if you want to piss them off. I tell ya, as soon as you mention SunRocket, the way they talked, they raised their voice and gave you a hard time with everything. I dealed with more than 10 customer service in 2 hours and they were all like that. SunRocket is great. I love all the features and bargain that is why I am keeping it! read more...
